Commercial Sliding Gate – Portlaoise

We installed a commercial single sliding gate at a shopping centre in Portlaoise, Laois, serving an entrance with an 8000 mm × 2400 mm opening. The main construction uses 100 × 100 sections, with a 150 × 100 mm bottom rail and 358 prison mesh infill. The mesh fills the framed sections of the gate, and the completed gate was galvanised to provide a protective finish for outdoor use.

We automated the gate using a SEA Lupus 2000 kg motor, operated through inverter technology with a control panel. The motor provides the drive for the motorised gate, with the inverter and control panel managing its opening and closing movement across the entrance.

For safety, we fitted high and low photocells, 8.2k resistive safety edges and a flashing warning light. The photocells provide detection at two heights, while the resistive safety edges provide contact sensing and the warning light signals gate operation. We completed the Portlaoise gate installation with the galvanised gate, inverter-controlled automation, and these safety devices.
